for your eyes? This question deals with blue or green LED lights especially, and they are anywhere from an inch to 12 inches away from the eyes. I’m talking about a little LED light like this in particular – http://www.light-reviews.com/inova_microlight/
Would this be dangerous, could this cause permanent eye damage? I realize there is a blue light hazard, but does the same also apply to green? Light therapy seems to be beneficial for people with depression or sleep disorders, and has helped me. But I need something more portable, so thought I’d ask. What would be a safe level of lux for light therapy up close, especially about an inch from the eyes?

I suffer from major depression and was given a sun lamp for light therapy. Does anybody have any experience with them? Were you helped? When is the best time to use them? Can you go to sleep with it on? Thanks

I am so frustrated! I have tried about 25 medications, and even went thru ECT this past summer, and nothing helps! I have been trying to get help for my bipolar since 1994. I just had a fit today and broke some stuff. Counseling doesn’t help much either. ECT was the last thing left to try, and it was a horrible experience – I had a weird reaction just like I do to all the meds. They apparently had to hold me down and inject me with Haldol because I was trying to run away when I woke up. I went thru 7 horrid treatments and it didn’t help a bit.(FYI there is absolutely no question it’s bipolar, I do lots of self-help things, including eating right, stable sleep schedule, light therapy, dark therapy, exercising, meditation, social support, art, music, every damn thing. I am even happily married & like where I live).
What in the hell? Am I the only one? I can’t make it without meds – my symptoms are really severe more than half the time (suicidal) and it has been this way for years. My psychiatrist wants me to get a hysterectomy, because it MIGHT help. Just like she told me the past 15 drugs and ECT might help. Oh, wait, the ECT was supposed to be an almost sure-fire thing. My mom & her mom’s menopause symptoms never went away, so I can’t see how that would help either.
Anyway, I’m venting, but I am also wondering if anyone else has gone thru this – just nothing worked. And how do you not blow your brains out when nothing works. I don’t even believe in God anymore – lost that 2 years ago in the middle of the last 3 year mixed moods bout.

I have been doing alot of research on Astral Travel. I even tried, but it was always unsuccesful. For those who doesn’t know what is Astral Travel, Please take a look first.
Astral travel has been practised throughout history – and there have been thousands of documented scientific experiements confirming that astral travel is real.
People seek therapy because they ‘wake up paralyzed and rigid’ (sleep paralysis, a close component of astral travel) ‘Wake up and see strange beings around them’ (entities found in the astral plane) ‘Find themselves floating or vibrating violently, or engulfed in a bright light’ (sensations felt as the astral body leaves the physical body) Some people have even gone so far as to say their astral experiences are alien encounters.
I am also interested to know if its true. If u have any encounters, OR EVEN YOU HAD TRIED, please tell me more about it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/astral_travel) check if u dont believe

Okay so I’ve had dsps for about 15 years now and the older I get the worse it gets. Most people with it say they can’t fall asleep until 2-3am but for me It’s around 9am to 12pm, then I sleep like a log until around 10pm. Needless to say, It’s impossible to hold down a job or even have a social life. It’s driving me bonkers!! It’s an everyday thing and I workout everyday, don’t drink caffeine, I have fairly healthy eating habits, pills don’t work, NyQuil don’t work, nothing freaking works. I’ve tried everything except having a sleep study done. Should I even bother with one as I think they will most likely just suggest bright light therapy or something? If I can even fall asleep during the study that is, I’ve heard that you have to get ready for bed in the evening for these things, but that will be useless because I’ll just lay there until 7am or whenever they’re supposed to wake you up. I don’t have insurance either so before I dish out 00 do you really think it’s worth it with my situation? All responses are greatly appreciated and I will choose a best answer, even if there’s only one.
Thank you.
I’ve tried tons and tons of cannabis over the years and while it’s quite nice, It doesn’t help me sleep. :\ Neither does alcohol. I do tons of yard work for people every summer even though it’s sooo hard because of my condition and I’m in the sun for a long time, that hasn’t helped at all..ever, so I’m thinking bright light therapy will be useless.
Nonetheless I thank you for the response.
