My acne isn't that bad… can I still get accutane?

It’s certainly not severe, and sometimes it even appears to be very mild. However there is pretty much always at least one zit on my face. Sometimes it’s just one that’s deep and protruding and others it’s several little bumps.
However my skin does not respond to any treatments well. I’ve tried epiduo, differin, benzaclin, acanya, ziana, many prescription washes, even oral antibiotic therapy and blue light.. Nothing. It does not respond. To top it off, my skin is ridiculously oily. I look greasy 24/7. I have been monitored by a dermatologist (one that no longer handles accutane patients) for quite some time and we have not made much progress. Sometimes I clear for a week and bam it’s back again. And nothing stops the oil!
This is why I want accutane. I think it’s time to find a dermatologist that will prescribe it for me. However I’m not sure if anyone will put me on it because my acne is really not cystic or nodular. It doesn’t appear to be terrible either, and I don’t (permanently) scar easy. I feel like there are almost microscopic little ice pick marks (no one else can really see them without getting close or a magnifying glass, but they’re there.) And without makeup, my face is full of red marks. I know PIH goes away, but I can’t stay clear long enough to even it out! I don’t want to worry about scarring or dealing with crappy skin forever! I cannot find relief with any prescription! And I don’t wanna have scars. Can I get someone to put me on accutane? Is it possible? I will pay whatever, do whatever, it doesn’t matter I’m just sick of this skin!!!!!
*And don’t tell me to order online- It’s a scam first off, and second it wont work if you don’t have a doctor to put you on the right dosage at the right time and all that jazzzz

you should go see a dermatologist. they definately won’t recommend it, but I think if you tell him/her that you would really like to go on acutane (make sure you say you’re self-conscious about your acne) they will probably prescribe it for you.
I was on Acutane last year, and believe me, it really sucks because your skin gets soooo dry, but it works wonders
so if you’re serious, go for it.
You’re a good example of someone who’ve tried everything but . . . .
Since you’re going from one product to another, instead of being a guinea pig for every solution in the planet, don’t you think it is wiser to find a dermatologist who can fix the problem?
That’s their specialty.
You know I’m not surprised that none of the prescribed acne treatments worked for you. They don’t work for a lot of people. But Accutane is a serious drug and I think you might not realize just how harsh it can be on your skin. Do you want to see your acne get much worse for up to a year? Do you want to have your skin peel? Do you want to be monitored closely to make sure your liver is okay?
My point is that Accutane is serious and is not suitable for people who don’t have a serious acne condition. I used it many years ago and it was much harder than I expected. It is simply not worth it. Sure, it will probably clear your skin eventually but I recommend you try some other things first.
I have some tips on my site, below. Have you tried going on the birth control pill? Yasmin is the most effective at controlling acne. If you do Accutane you will have to go on the pill anyway so why not try it alone first? another option is one of the holistic dietary based programs that I discuss on my site. They cost a lot less and work faster than Accutane so might be worth a try. Topical treatments have never impressed me. Good luck.
Well I went on accutane, also with moderate acne & oily face.. however once the acne was cleared the oil didn’t jut magically dissappear. An oily face was still a problem even while on accutane. I;ve been off accutane for about a year and the acne came back even worse, and the scarring is much worse now, given that Accutane "thins" your skin, as my dermotolgoist described it. As much as I loved it at the time.. I really regret going on it.
