Laser skin therapy…….??
Posted: July 23rd, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: laser light therapy | Tags: birth control, birth control pills, bleach, brown patches, laser resurfacing, light skin, sun exposure, time deal | 2 Comments »I have light skin, and as I have gotten older (42) I have brown patches and brown spots on my face (from old sun exposure and taking birth control pills). I have tried bleach creams, and they just don’t work.
I am thinking about getting Laser resurfacing. Is this costly?
about how much? and is it a one time deal, or do I have to keep going back?
Thank you!

Before you try something that’s expensive like laser resurfacing (around 300-900 for about 4 treatments, one treatment normally won’t help, since your skin needs to shed, then another treatment is done) I would try Glycolic acid, or a TCA peel. You can buy them off eBay, and the result Ive seen for my hyperpigmentation due to acne was very good! However you also need to reapply the acid on a 2 week basis, but its worth it!
Or if you can have the Doctor/dermatologist do your peel it would probably cost around 300-400$….so check your options before you spend any money.
*Remember laser’s aren’t 100% responsive to all skin types, and may even worsen skin depending on your skin type!
Hi Robbie, I am in my 40’s also. Laser resurfacing in this area,Southern USA,starts at around 5,000$. It often has to be done in a series of treatments and, depending on size of area,(full face or small area) price can be even more. I had dermabrasion and have to have it done at least once a year. While I am pleased with results, it is a big commitment. Always wear sunscreen, special cleansers,so on and so forth. Seems like once you do a radical procedure to your face, you are in to it for life. Looking back,I don’t know if I would do it again. I guess I thought improving my looks would improve my self esteem. What ever you choose, don’t let Dr’s talk you into anything. Look closely before you leap.
