Am I hallucinating or not? Should I tell my doctor?

I’m 17. 18 mnths ago I had a small breakdown after my best friend’s suicide attempt (and other stuff), and I didn’t know what was real and what was a dream.

I got on prozac, and I still take it now but I’m a lot better. No panic attacks or huge mood swings any more, & I quit therapy as well because I felt a lot more confident. I quit drinking a lot and cutting. For the last couple of months though, I’ve been seeing things.

Started off just seeing spots of colour, like when you look at a bright light, only not like that bc they only lasted a second & weren’t there when I closed my eyes. I didn’t worry. But then for the last month maybe, I’ve been seeing people as well as colours, like seeing my mom or my friends when they weren’t there. Now they walk around and sometimes don’t disappear until I walk into the space where they are, or leave the room. It’s so real, I react to them as if they’re there, but then realise they can’t be (because I see my mom in my classroom or my friend from my old school in my kitchen). Nobody else sees them. Sometimes I don’t realise it wasn’t real until I’ve been trying to talk to what I guess is an empty space for like a minute.

Is this hallucination? I’m not going to the doctor if it’s anything to do with a mental illness, because I’m not going through that therapy shit again, but if it could be a physical thing then I guess I should go :/

When you do go to the doctor next on checkup for your meds I would probably run it by him.

you may want to ask your parents to get a brain scan to rule out any tumors, take you off of the medicine temporarily to see if it is caused by that, and therapy is not a bad thing. It can help you if you work with it. I’m very glad to hear one of the cutters has quit. stay away from drugs and alcohol. That can make it worse. You do in fact need checked for chemical causes and brain issues.

    Yes, it’s definitely hallucination.

    But what causes the hallucination?
1)Is it due to Prozac on any kind of drugs that you took? Probably, you can check the websites to find out the side effects of Prozac or any kind of drugs that you had taken. You can check under "Mental Health or Illness".

2)Or is due to your mental breakdown after your friend suicide attempt?
If it’s due to mental breakdown, then you need to see a doctor.
But becareful with the medicine that the doctor would give you.
I can understand why you don’t want to go through the therapy again. I find that some doctors would anyhow prescribe medicines to you in order to see quick results(unethical practice). And some medicines have very bad side effects and it won’t cure the problem.
Again check the websites for the the medicines side effects.
Also, look for another doctor. Look for a reliable & ethical doctor.
