I suffered severe injuries at work and after many surgeries and phy therapy, my life is dictated by pain. I have had every procedure conceivable and now have lost insurance and medical coverage because the police dept I worked for found a legal means of discharging several officers in somiliar situations who either could not get medical release to light duty or had been on extended light duty. My problem now is I can not function due to pain and have considered going to Mexico to seek medications or am open to any ideas by anyone in similar situation. I need to have some type of pain intervention and support as I have been disabled by severe pain since the injuries. I’ve sought help for depression due to suicidal thoughts because of pain, but they agree my main problem is due to pain and they are not authorized to treat pain related problems, only depression caused by he situation. Any experience with this type of problem regardless of means I’m open too…

I guess I should be more specific. I’ve done everything suggested. I had 2 pain specialist prior to losing insurance and recieved trigger point injects, spinal & cervical blocks, arm & elbow blocks. I’ve had rezetomies also. I’ve had bio-feedback, tens units, phy therapy w/massages. I now must rely on Dallas’ Parkland Hospital for treatment, but never see same dr twice since its a training hospital. I’ve been waiting 2yrs to get into their pain clinic. Its been 10mos and I’ve seen 1 dr who prescribed nothing and said to come back in 6mos for follow-up, possibly for one steroid inj. Before loss of insnce pain dr rx’ed 10mg hydrocodone every 6hrs & got a little relief, not a lot. I do phys thrpy and exercise daily. I guess what I’m looking for is info on where to find dr who will include pain meds and monitor use to avoid addiction, seems like drs avoid rxing anything. Can’t take NSAIDS because they’ve RX’ed so long caused ulcers in stomach/intestines.

Did it work? What product did you use (brand and model if possible)? I’m going through major depression (on medication and seeing a therapist) and I just came across these full spectrum lamps that are believed to help alleviate SAD (Seasonal Affective Depression) symptoms. I’m wondering if these would help me even if I’m not suffering from SAD (I think my depression was a result of an extended highly-stressful period in my life and it could also be partially genetic since other family members have experienced / are experiencing it (two sisters.) Do you think that this light therapy device (Apollo Health GoLite P1 Blue Spectrum Light Therapy Device) is the best in the market since it’s one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) out threre?
I had an Aurora treatment and it involved a gel coating and a hand sized device that was moved over my face and it felt like *static shocks*! (static electricity shocks!) … NOT what I expected and certainly not pleasant. I expected a light to shine, like how a dentist whitens teeth. Oh well. Live and learn. Is there a laser that doesn’t touch your face? Name? Thank you in advance
I am so frustrated! I have tried about 25 medications, and even went thru ECT this past summer, and nothing helps! I have been trying to get help for my bipolar since 1994. I just had a fit today and broke some stuff. Counseling doesn’t help much either. ECT was the last thing left to try, and it was a horrible experience – I had a weird reaction just like I do to all the meds. They apparently had to hold me down and inject me with Haldol because I was trying to run away when I woke up. I went thru 7 horrid treatments and it didn’t help a bit.(FYI there is absolutely no question it’s bipolar, I do lots of self-help things, including eating right, stable sleep schedule, light therapy, dark therapy, exercising, meditation, social support, art, music, every damn thing. I am even happily married & like where I live).
What in the hell? Am I the only one? I can’t make it without meds – my symptoms are really severe more than half the time (suicidal) and it has been this way for years. My psychiatrist wants me to get a hysterectomy, because it MIGHT help. Just like she told me the past 15 drugs and ECT might help. Oh, wait, the ECT was supposed to be an almost sure-fire thing. My mom & her mom’s menopause symptoms never went away, so I can’t see how that would help either.
Anyway, I’m venting, but I am also wondering if anyone else has gone thru this – just nothing worked. And how do you not blow your brains out when nothing works. I don’t even believe in God anymore – lost that 2 years ago in the middle of the last 3 year mixed moods bout.
